All dogs need grooming ... some breeds more than others!

Individual needs catered for whether your dog needs:

    a full groom .....

    just a bath & brush up .....

    or simply a nail trim!

A FULL GROOM COMPRISES OF THE FOLLOWING TREATMENTS :
  • Checking over the body for lumps & bumps.
  • Brushing through the coat, removing knots & dead undercoat.
  • Checking toenails/dew claws & trimming if necessary.
  • Checking, cleaning & plucking ears if necessary.
  • Emptying of anal glands if necessary.
  • Bathing with mild, natural shampoos & conditioners containing essential oils
(each dog has at least two shampoos).
  • All dogs are hand dried & not cage dried.
  • Clipping & scissoring coats to a very high standard to meet your individual
    requirements or breed standard.
  • Finally, lots of cuddles & TLC.

PUPPIES
  • It is very important to gently groom and handle your puppy from day one. The earlier you start, the more likely it will be that your puppy will accept being groomed as a normal part of it's daily routine.
  • Ideally puppies should be introduced to professional grooming from the age of 12 weeks, once they have had their vaccinations. I always recommend that you bring your puppy (with some tasty treats) for a short familiarisation visit as soon as you can to meet me, spend a little time on the table and allow it to get used to the smells and noises in the salon.
  • The second visit normally consists of a bath and blow dry followed by a face, feet, bottom and nail trim.
  • This gentle introduction will acclimatise them, minimising stress & nerves for future visits. It normally takes 2-3 sessions for a puppy to become fully comfortable with the grooming process.
Grooming isn't just about making your puppy look good. Regular care removes dead hair, keeps the coat and skin healthy, and gives you the opportunity to check your pup's general health. It's also important time spent together, building your relationship, trust and understanding. Starting early means dogs get used to being handled and this also makes any veterinary examinations much less stressful in the future. There's even scientific evidence that grooming sessions reduce stress and blood pressure - for both of you! - See more at: http://www.purina.co.uk/content/your-dog/helping-to-keep-your-dog-healthy/regular-dog-care/grooming-your-puppy#sthash.JdWhvVan.dpuf
